Congratulations to Ciorba Group’s CEO & President Salvatore Di Bernardo for being selected as the 2022 SEAOI Service Award winner at SEAOI’s Annual Award celebration last week!

The SEAOI Service Award is given to “a distinguished individual, whose involvement and career services in design, construction, education, or business related to structural engineering, have made a significant contribution to the advancement and the recognition of the role of structural engineers.”  A list of past recipients can be found at

In the recent past Ciorba Group was also the recipient of the SEAOI Excellence in Structural Engineering Awards for the Pedestrian Bridge over Lake Shore Drive at 47th Street in Chicago, the Jane Addams (I-90) over the Kishwaukee River Bridge, and the Roselle Road Pedestrian Bridge in Schaumburg.  Ciorba’s staff continues to stay involved with SEAOI and other professional associations, also contributing with technical presentations at various conferences. Our staff is actively participating in various committees and takes part in continuing education events.

Salvatore has always valued the importance of volunteering his time to advance the structural engineering profession. He is actively involved in national and international professional organizations. He was the 2016-17 President of SEAOI and a Director of the Board from 2010 to 2022. Since 2014 he has been a member of the State of Illinois Structural Engineering Licensing Board. He has been involved with the Design-Build Committee of the Illinois Road and Transportation Builder Association and with the IDOT committee for ACEC. Salvatore is currently the Treasurer and Director of the Board of the US Group of the International Association of Bridges and Structural Engineering (IABSE).

We are proud of Salvatore, his continuing commitment to supporting professional organization and advancing our industry, and for receiving this well-deserved recognition.  It was wonderful to be able to celebrate him and the other award winners in person!
