Responsibilities

  • Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices.  Includes design calculations/models, plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways, including bridge and culvert crossings;
  • Analysis of flood problem areas to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, and design recommended alternatives;
  • Design of soil erosion and sediment control practices;
  • The candidate will serve as the technical lead on projects and will manage other engineers and technicians to achieve completion of project plans but may also complete certain tasks independently;
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
  • Review and check engineering work completed by others;
  • Maintain positive client and vendor relationships;
  • Mentor staff engineers;
  • Will report to our Vice President of Water Resources.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering;
  • 10-15 years of water resources experience, including the activities described above;
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (P.E.);
  • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • MicroStation proficiency; AutoCAD experience a plus;
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including TR-20, HEC-HMS, SWMM, HEC-RAS, and StormCad;
  • Experience on municipal and/or highway drainage design projects, including drainage studies and hydraulic reports;
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) a plus;
  • Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) a plus;

  • Wastewater collection system analysis and sanitary sewer design;
  • Sanitary and stormwater lift station analysis and design;

Ciorba Group is seeking an exceptional Roadway Project Manager for our Michigan City, Indiana office. The selected candidate will supervise our preliminary/design engineering services on all Ciorba transportation projects for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) as well as counties, municipalities, other government agencies, and private clients throughout northern Indiana. The Project Manager will also assist in continuing to develop new clients and preparing proposals for potential projects.

Besides technical abilities, the individual chosen for this position must have strong leadership qualities, good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Indiana Professional Engineer license, PTOE a plus.
  • 12 to 18 years of experience working on INDOT, county, and municipal transportation projects;
  • Knowledge and use of Microstation and InRoads/GeoPak.

  • CAD plan preparation of roadway, structural, and public utility infrastructure improvements;
  • Perform construction observation of public infrastructure improvements;
  • Assist in performing topographic surveys.
