Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking a Roadway Project Engineer for our newly established, growing Northwest Indiana office. We offer great training and career advancement opportunities. The selected candidate will work on projects for a variety of clients such as INDOT, Indiana LPAs and private clients, and will support design activities of Ciorba roadway group in Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Preliminary engineering studies such as traffic studies, road safety audits, pavement assessment and asset management plans, intersection design studies, and geometric studies;
  • Feasibility and preliminary studies for highways and expressways;
  • Plan preparation for local, collector, arterial and expressway improvement projects;
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
  • Interact with clients and assist in business development and marketing efforts including support in preparation of technical proposal;

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Indiana PE;
  • 4-8 years of experience;
  • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Microstation and GeoPak proficiency;
  • Experience on INDOT and Indiana LPA projects preferred, railway engineering experience a plus,
  • Construction inspection experience a plus.

Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team with the following responsibilities:

  • Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices. Includes design calculations/models, plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, and other related tasks;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways, including bridge and culvert crossings;
  • Analysis of flood problem areas to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, and design recommended alternatives;
  • Design of soil erosion and sediment control practices;
  • Potable water supply and distribution (water main) analysis and design;
  • Wastewater collection and conveyance (sanitary sewer) analysis and design;
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
  • Will report to our Water Resources Group Manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 2-4 years of water resources experience;
  • Fundamental understanding of water resources concepts, including stormwater management, water supply and distribution, and sanitary collection and conveyance;
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including SWMM and HEC-RAS;
  • Experience on municipal and/or highway drainage design projects;
  • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Microstation or AutoCad capabilities.

The selected candidate will work with Ciorba’s award winning Structures Group in a newly established, growing Northwest Indiana office on a variety of new and rehabilitated typical and complex structures for clients such as INDOT, Indiana LPAs and the Illinois Tollway.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare billing monthly with input from Project Managers;
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and process sub-consultant invoices;
  • Maintain project database;
  • Manage contract insurance requirements;
  • Respond to requests from Project Managers for project reporting;
  • Assist the Controller with special projects and other duties as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 5-7 years of structural design experience
  • Indiana PE or potential to acquire one within 6 months, Illinois SE a plus;
  • Experience preparing plans for Indiana DOT and LPA projects;
  • Good technical skills, excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • MicroStation proficiency, 3D abilities a plus
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software;
  • Knowledge of rail structural design a plus;
  • Bridge inspection experience, including 80 hour NHI inspection course, preferred but not required;
