Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing team with the following responsibilities:

  • Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices. Includes design calculations/models, plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, and other related tasks;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways, including bridge and culvert crossings;
  • Analysis of flood problem areas to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, and design recommended alternatives;
  • Design of soil erosion and sediment control practices;
  • Potable water supply and distribution (water main) analysis and design;
  • Wastewater collection and conveyance (sanitary sewer) analysis and design;
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
  • Will report to our Water Resources Group Manager

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 1-3 years of water resources experience;
  • Fundamental understanding of water resources concepts, including stormwater management, water supply and distribution, and sanitary collection and conveyance;
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including SWMM and HEC-RAS;
  • Experience on municipal and/or highway drainage design projects;
  • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Microstation or AutoCad capabilities.

Position Summary

Ciorba Group is looking to add talented staff to our Bridge and Structures Group. The selected candidate will work with Ciorba’s award winning Structures Group in a newly established, growing Northwest Indiana office on a variety of new and rehabilitated typical and complex structures for clients such as INDOT, Indiana LPAs and the Illinois Tollway.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare billing monthly with input from Project Managers;
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and process sub-consultant invoices;
  • Maintain project database;
  • Manage contract insurance requirements;
  • Respond to requests from Project Managers for project reporting;
  • Assist the Controller with special projects and other duties as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 5-7 years of structural design experience
  • Indiana PE or potential to acquire one within 6 months, Illinois SE a plus;
  • Experience preparing plans for Indiana DOT and LPA projects;
  • Good technical skills, excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • MicroStation proficiency, 3D abilities a plus
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software;
  • Knowledge of rail structural design a plus;
  • Bridge inspection experience, including 80 hour NHI inspection course, preferred but not required;
