Responsibilities

This position consists of supervising and performing preliminary engineering studies and preparing project reports for a variety of transportation improvement projects. Clients include the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois Tollway, various County Division of Transportations, and Local Agencies. The individual must possess a thorough knowledge of NEPA as well as IDOT/FHWA policies and procedures. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the work efforts of the staff assigned to one or more projects including, but not limited to, conducting traffic studies, geometric studies, environmental studies, and safety studies. The Project Manager will report to and coordinate with the Vice President – Roadway. Individual must have the ability to communicate well (verbal and written) and collaborate with other disciplines as well as clients and outside agencies to obtain necessary approvals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Illinois Professional Engineer
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in MicroStation, GeoPak, HCS, Synchro, and Microsoft Office Suites
  • Current qualification as an IDOT Environmental Lead or ability to obtain is a plus.

      Ciorba Group is seeking a Water Resources Engineer with the following responsibilities:

      • Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices. Includes design calculations/models, plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, and other related tasks
      • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways, including bridge and culvert crossings
      • Analysis of flood problem areas to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, and design recommended alternatives
      • Design of soil erosion and sediment control practices
      • Potable water supply and distribution (water main) analysis and design
      • Wastewater collection and conveyance (sanitary sewer) analysis and design
      • Stormwater and sanitary lift station analysis and design
      • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects

      Required Qualifications

      • B.S. or M.S. degree in civil engineering
      • 0 to 2 years of professional experience
      • Fundamental understanding of water resources concepts, including stormwater management, water supply and distribution, and sanitary collection and conveyance
      • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects
      • Some experience with Microstation or AutoCad
      • Some experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models

        ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

        Responsibilities

        Ciorba Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer with experience in the design of Lighting, Electrical, Traffic Signal and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) improvements. Projects will consist of the study and design of roadway and site lighting, traffic signals for State and municipal clients, and ITS improvements for public agencies. Other work will involve the design of pump station electrical systems, generator sizing and site electrical improvements. Responsibilities will include:

        • Preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates as well as preliminary studies
        • Supervising other staff on larger projects
        • Coordination with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
        • Mentoring junior staff.
        • Review and check engineering work completed by others
        • Maintain positive client relationships
        • Manage schedules and deadlines on multiple projects

        Required Qualifications

        • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
        • 6-12 years of experience
        • Illinois PE or the ability to obtain within 24 months
        • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects
        • MicroStation proficiency
        • Experience on IDOT and Illinois Tollway projects preferred, CDOT and INDOT experience a plus
