Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer. The selected candidate will work with Ciorba’s Water Resources Group for clients such as IDOT, INDOT, Illinois Tollway, and local municipalities.

Responsibilities

  • Stormwater system analysis and design for municipal and roadway projects, including conveyance, storage, and stormwater quality best management practices.  Includes design calculations/models, plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks;
  • Analysis of flood problem areas to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, and design recommended alternatives;
  • Hydrologic and hydraulic analysis of floodplains and floodways, including bridge and culvert crossings;
  • Design of soil erosion and sediment control practices;
  • Water distribution system and wastewater collection system analyses and design;
  • The candidate will manage other engineers and technicians to achieve completion of project plans, as directed by the Project Manager, but may also complete certain tasks independently;
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
  • Review and check engineering work completed by others;
  • Maintain positive client and vendor relationships;
  • Mentor staff engineers;
  • Will report to our Water Resources Group Manager.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 6-8 years of water resources experience;
  • Illinois Professional Engineer (PE);
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM);
  • Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control (CPESC) a plus;
  • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Microstation proficiency; AutoCad experience a plus;
  • Experience on municipal and/or highway drainage design projects;
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic models, including SWMM and HEC-RAS;
  • Experience with water distribution system and wastewater collection system analyses and design;
  • Pump station experience a plus.

Ciorba Group is looking to add talented staff to the Structures Group. The selected candidate will work with Ciorba’s award-winning Structures Group on a variety of new and rehabilitated typical and complex structures for clients such as IDOT, INDOT, Illinois Tollway, and local municipalities

Responsibilities

  • Assist in plan preparation, design and quantity calculations, and other related tasks for transportation-related structural projects.
  • Assist with bridge inspections.
  • The candidate will work with other engineers and technicians under the supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer.
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3-5 years of structural design experience
  • Successful completion of FE exam
  • PE/SE licensure a plus
  • Good technical skills, excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • MicroStation proficiency
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software
  • GeoPak experience a plus
  • Experience preparing plans for Illinois DOT and/or Illinois Tollway projects
  • Bridge inspection experience, including 80-hour NHI inspection course, preferred but not required

The selected candidate will work with Ciorba’s award winning Structures Group in a newly established, growing Northwest Indiana office on a variety of new and rehabilitated typical and complex structures for clients such as INDOT, Indiana LPAs and the Illinois Tollway.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare billing monthly with input from Project Managers;
  • Coordinate with sub-consultants and process sub-consultant invoices;
  • Maintain project database;
  • Manage contract insurance requirements;
  • Respond to requests from Project Managers for project reporting;
  • Assist the Controller with special projects and other duties as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Civil Engineering;
  • 5-7 years of structural design experience
  • Indiana PE or potential to acquire one within 6 months, Illinois SE a plus;
  • Experience preparing plans for Indiana DOT and LPA projects;
  • Good technical skills, excellent verbal communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
  • MicroStation proficiency, 3D abilities a plus
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software;
  • Knowledge of rail structural design a plus;
  • Bridge inspection experience, including 80 hour NHI inspection course, preferred but not required;
