Responsibilities

This position consists of supervising and performing preliminary engineering studies and preparing project reports for a variety of transportation improvement projects. Clients include the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois Tollway, various County Division of Transportations, and Local Agencies. The individual must possess a thorough knowledge of NEPA as well as IDOT/FHWA policies and procedures. The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the work efforts of the staff assigned to one or more projects including, but not limited to, conducting traffic studies, geometric studies, environmental studies, and safety studies. The Project Manager will report to and coordinate with the Vice President – Roadway. Individual must have the ability to communicate well (verbal and written) and collaborate with other disciplines as well as clients and outside agencies to obtain necessary approvals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Illinois Professional Engineer
  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in MicroStation, GeoPak, HCS, Synchro, and Microsoft Office Suites
  • Current qualification as an IDOT Environmental Lead or ability to obtain is a plus.

      WATER RESOURCES PROJECT ENGINEER

      Responsibilities

      Ciorba Group is seeking a Water Resources Project Engineer with the following responsibilities:

      Primary focus will be on:

      • Water distribution system analysis and water main design;
      • Wastewater collection system analysis and sanitary sewer design;
      • Sanitary and stormwater lift station analysis and design;
      • The candidate will serve as the technical lead on projects, reporting to the Project Manager, and will manage other engineers and technicians to achieve completion of project plans but may also complete certain tasks independently;
      • Design tasks include calculations/models, plan preparation, quantity calculations, construction details, specifications, cost estimates, and other related tasks;
      • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
      • Review and check engineering work completed by others;
      • Maintain positive client and vendor relationships;
      • Mentor staff engineers;
      • Will report to our Vice-President of Water Resources.

      Required Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering;
      • 10-12 years of water resources experience, including the activities described above;
      • Illinois Professional Engineer (PE);
      • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multidisciplinary projects;
      • Microstation proficiency; AutoCad experience a plus;
      • Experience with water distribution system and wastewater collection system analysis and design;
      • Experience with lift station design;
      • Experience with WaterCAD, SewerCAD, and other hydraulic models.

        ELECTRICAL PROJECT ENGINEER

        Responsibilities

        Ciorba Group is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer with experience in the design of Lighting, Electrical, Traffic Signal and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) improvements. Projects will consist of the study and design of roadway and site lighting, traffic signals for State and municipal clients, and ITS improvements for public agencies. Other work will involve the design of pump station electrical systems, generator sizing and site electrical improvements. Responsibilities will include:

        • Preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates as well as preliminary studies
        • Supervising other staff on larger projects
        • Coordination with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
        • Mentoring junior staff.
        • Review and check engineering work completed by others
        • Maintain positive client relationships
        • Manage schedules and deadlines on multiple projects

        Required Qualifications

        • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
        • 6-12 years of experience
        • Illinois PE or the ability to obtain within 24 months
        • Strong technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects
        • MicroStation proficiency
        • Experience on IDOT and Illinois Tollway projects preferred, CDOT and INDOT experience a plus

          STRUCTURAL PROJECT ENGINEER

The selected candidate will work with Ciorba’s award winning Structures Group on a variety of new and rehabilitated typical and complex structures for clients such as IDOT, INDOT, Illinois Tollway, and local municipalities. In addition to that the ideal candidate will supervise work performed for contractors and will get engaged in Design-Build projects.

          Responsibilities

          Ciorba Group is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with the following responsibilities:

          • Perform preliminary and final design for steel and concrete highway and pedestrian bridges design, layout and detailing, including preparation of plans, calculations, and construction specifications.
          • Supervise engineer and CADD work of other team member and coordination of project activities with other disciplines.
          • Complete projects and tasks meeting quality standards, budget and program expectations through proactive project monitoring and control mechanisms are developed and administered.
          • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
          • Coordination with client, government agencies and contractors on projects and tasks and development of good working relationships with technical staff on the client side
          • Mentor staff engineers.
          • Will report to our Vice-President of Structures.

          Required Qualifications

          • Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on structures
          • 10-15 years of bridge and structural design experience
          • Illinois SE and PE
          • Good technical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.
          • MicroStation proficiency
          • Working knowledge of structural analysis software
          • GeoPak and 3D CADD experience a plus
          • Experience with contractor assistance work on structural tasks
          • Experience preparing plans for Illinois DOT and/or Illinois Tollway projects and understanding of AASHTO bridge design Standards.
          • Finite Element Modeling and complex structural design a plus
          • Bridge inspection experience, including 80 hour NHI inspection course, preferred but not required
