Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer for our Chicago office to assist in the preparation of design plans and specifications for transportation infrastructure improvements. The selected candidate will have experience working on projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Illinois Tollway, and/or Chicago area counties and municipalities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in plan preparation for local, collector, and arterial street as well as expressway improvement projects;
  • Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects;
  • Review and check engineering work completed by others;
  • Mentor staff engineers.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;
• Illinois Professional Engineer license;
• 6 to 10 years of experience in roadway design;
• Strong technical, verbal, and written communication skills;
• Ability to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects;
• Microstation and GeoPak proficiency.

Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking an exceptional Roadway Project Manager for our Michigan City, Indiana office. The selected candidate will supervise our preliminary/design engineering services on all Ciorba transportation projects for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) as well as counties, municipalities, other government agencies, and private clients throughout northern Indiana. The Project Manager will also assist in continuing to develop new clients and preparing proposals for potential projects.

Responsibilities

Besides technical abilities, the individual chosen for this position must have strong leadership qualities, good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work well in a team environment on multi-disciplinary projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Indiana Professional Engineer license, PTOE a plus.
  • 12 to 18 years of experience working on INDOT, county, and municipal transportation projects;
  • Knowledge and use of Microstation and GeoPak.

This is a position where a person can grow into performing more advanced engineering services. Training opportunities will be available to assist in developing new skills. Ciorba is looking for a person who is excited about meeting new challenges and expanding their capabilities.

Position Summary

Ciorba Group is seeking a Resident Engineer for our Chicago office with experience in monitoring construction activities on transportation improvement projects. The selected candidate will have experience working on projects for municipalities, counties, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and the Illinois Tollway.

Responsibilities

Besides monitoring the contractor’s operations, key duties of the Resident Engineer are:

  • Preparing or supervising the preparation of all project documentation including quantities, pay estimates, change orders, and other reports required by the client;
  • Supervise all staff, including subconsultants, assigned to a project;
  • Continual review of construction and engineering budgets to alert client of any potential changes;
  • Maintaining close communication with client and other project stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

•  10 to 15 years of experience in construction engineering;
•  Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering;
•  Illinois Professional Engineer license;
•  Certification as an IDOT Documentation Technician and training in ICORS;
•  Certification in IDOT’s Erosion and Sediment Control Workshop;
•  Good written and verbal communication skills.
