Ciorba Group is currently providing the preliminary engineering services for Ogden Avenue from Pulaski Road to Oakley Boulevard in the City of Chicago. Federal funds will be utilized for construction; therefore the report will be reviewed and approved by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Ogden Avenue is an existing four-lane highway with frontage roads along most of the alignment. The new typical section will consist of four travel lanes where needed, landscaped median, bicycle lanes and on-street parking. Engineering studies for the included 11 intersection design studies, crash analysis, geometric studies to the frontage road access points, the effects of the new bicycle lanes, vertical and horizontal geometric analysis, and a drainage study. Extensive streetscaping improvements will also be made as part of the improvements. A Project Development Report, Categorical Exclusion was prepared to summarize all the studies. STP funds will be used for construction so all work was completed in accordance with IDOT BLR&S requirements.
