As part of a team, Ciorba Group provided preliminary, final design and construction engineering services for the $65M Morton Grove – Niles Water Supply Transmission Facility Project.  To the benefit of our client and the community, this project supplies over 50,000 residents with safe, high-quality water from Lake Michigan. Ciorba identified and recommended water transmission route options west of the Edens Expressway in the Villages, as well as evaluated, identified and recommended options for the design, finance and construction of water transmission lines, and other related water delivery and receiving infrastructure. The detailed design phase included preparing plan and profile drawings and specifications for the 30-inch transmission main from Suffield Court, approximately 200 feet west of Gross Point Road in Skokie to the proposed Morton Grove – Niles Water Commission (MGNWC) Standpipe and Pump Station (approximately 15,400 linear feet of pipe). During construction, Ciorba Group’s Resident Engineer oversaw the installation of 45,000 feet of water transmission main along with the associated pavement patching, rehabilitation, reconstruction, and the installation of fiber optic lines to monitor the water main and water main lining.  In addition Ciorba Group served as Senior Resident engineer overseeing five of the project’s nine contracts.
