Millennium Trail Pedestrian Bridge Concept Studies

Ciorba Group performed the feasibility and preliminary engineering studies for two multi-use path crossings at County roads. We performed studies at both locations for signature bridges. Proposed types included arch supported stress-ribbon, tied arch and cable-stayed bridges. We prepared 3D renderings for the various concepts and compared estimated cost to pre-engineered bridges and underpasses. The Lake County Forest Preserves District staff selected the underpasses based on estimated cost and their previous experience with similar projects in the recent past. We further developed the underpass studies for the Millennium Trail path to follow the Illinois DOT standards, prepare a Project Development Report and to apply for funding. The underpass studies included alignment and profile optimization, drainage and environmental impact studies and coordination with utility agencies and Lake County DOT.
