ITS & Fiber Optic Improvements

Under a Design Upon Request contract with the Illinois Tollway, Ciorba Group provided design and plan preparation for the extension of a new fiber optic cable system along I-90 from Mill Road to the M7 Maintenance Yard, a distance of 4 miles. This fiber optic cable completed a redundant fiber optic system that is part of the Tollway’s I-90 ‘Smart Corridor’, connecting all Tollway facilities on the corridor to a private fiber optic network. This project also included plan preparation for a new dynamic message sign (DMS) for motorists approaching I-90 along I-39. This sign structure is located beyond the Tollway right-of-way on I-39, requiring coordination and approval by IDOT.
