CIORBA SPOTLIGHTMarie Daboub, PE.

We continue our Employee Spotlight series by introducing Marie Daboub, PE. Marie is a Transportation Engineer who has worked in Ciorba’s Roadway Group for over 5 years. In celebration of her fifth anniversary, Ciorba Spotlight wants to recognize Marie’s good work, growing engineering skills, and contributions to the roadway team.

Marie Daboub, PE - Transportation Engineer

Marie was born and raised in Palatine, Illinois, where her love for engineering started early in life, to be precise in fifth grade, when she participated in a Science Olympiad competition. For the Olympiad, Marie and the other competitors designed and built structures out of plastic straws. Not surprisingly, Marie did very well in the competition and received second place. Since then Marie had just one thing in mind, to become an engineer. For a long time she wanted to follow her dream from the Science Olympiad and study to be a structural engineer. Through her classes at Valparaiso University, Marie found the transportation field to be a better fit in meeting her goal of an engineering career.

One of Marie’s proudest moments as an engineer is when she obtained her Illinois Professional Engineers License. Currently, Marie is part of the team completing the final design plans for the replacement of a pedestrian bridge crossing US 12 in East Chicago, Indiana. This project is Marie’s first time working on the design team for a new pedestrian bridge and her first assignment in Indiana. This is in addition to leading the design for other recent roadway projects in the Village of Morton Grove and the City of Highland Park. Marie has the unique ability of multitasking effectively between projects and deadlines, which makes her an asset to our always busy transportation team.

Marie is well known around the office for her engineering skills, personal charisma, and her passion for Karate, for which she has participated in multiple national and international competitions. During her free time, Marie also enjoys sailing with family and friends.

Hope you enjoyed reading about Marie.

One last thing: Marie has a hidden talent, she can Juggle.
