Gerald Heimsoth, PE – President
Joining Ciorba Group in 1984 as a Project Engineer, Jerry Heimsoth was appointed President of the firm in 1998. As President, he oversees our firm's financial and administrative matters while directing marketing efforts and providing technical assistance as necessary. His emphasis on providing quality services to clients has become our main corporate philosophy. Jerry also manages our firm's municipal engineering services.
Salvatore Di Bernardo, PE, SE, MBA – Executive Vice President
Salvatore Di Bernardo joined Ciorba Group in 2004 and is the firm’s Executive Vice President. He also manages Ciorba’s Transportation Group. Salvatore has extensive experience in the management of highway and bridge projects, both nationally and internationally, including arch and steel bridges along with prestressed and post-tensioned concrete bridges. He has authored and presented papers to international conferences and is actively involved in national and international professional associations.
Mark Johnson, PE, PTOE – Transportation Manager
Mark Johnson has prepared numerous preliminary engineering studies and design plans for improvements to local roadways, major arterial streets and expressways. He is well versed in the environmental process associated with transportation improvements as well as Context Sensitive Solutions procedures to enhance public involvement. Many of the municipal projects supervised by Mark were constructed using STP or MFT funding.
Matthew Lehan, PE – Transportation Manager
Matt Lehan is experienced in preparing studies and reports, plans, specifications and estimates for improvements to expressways, arterial routes, collector roads and local streets as well as bicycle paths/lanes. Matt has also supervised the study and design of drainage improvements on expressways, arterial and collector streets. Early in his career, Matt served as a Resident Engineer on county highway improvements.
David Liu, PhD, PE, SE – Structural Manager
David Liu has more than 22 years of extensive experience in structural design and plan preparation. In addition to typical highway and rail bridges for various Departments of Transportation and other agencies, David has played a key design role on major bridges including long-span steel plate girder and tied arch bridges and some well-known long span suspension bridge projects. He is experienced in complex structural analyses and load rating as well as project management, project scheduling and project cost estimates and supervision of engineers and drafters.
Duane O'Laughlin, PE – Transportation Manager
Duane O’Laughlin is a recent hire with Ciorba Group serving as a Transportation Manager. He has more than 20 years of engineering experience on transportation projects. Duane has managed projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, municipalities, and private sector clients. He has extensive experience in coordinating stakeholder and public involvement meetings, preliminary studies, roadway and drainage design, final design for plans, specification and cost estimates, and construction management.
Tony Wolff, PE, CFM – Municipal/Water Resources Manager
Tony Wolff oversees the Water Resources Department. Prior to joining Ciorba Group, he served 10 years with the Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (LCSMC). The last three years at LCSMC he was the Commission’s Chief Engineer. With Ciorba Group, Tony supervises the Water Resources staff and manages projects related to the study and design of stormwater management facilities, water supply systems and sanitary collection systems.
